Welcome to the Western Sydney University Archives, a treasure trove of historical and contemporary records that chronicle the rich tapestry of our institution's journey from 1891 to the present. As you navigate through the vast collection, you will encounter documents, photographs, and artefacts that not only reflect the evolution of the university but also capture the spirit and changes of the times. We invite scholars, students, and history enthusiasts alike to delve into the archives and explore the narratives that have shaped the educational landscape of Western Sydney. This archive is a testament to our commitment to preserving the past while inspiring future generations.

The Archives' holdings include those records required to be kept under the State Records Act (1998) as State Archives, and those records that have historical value to the University and surrounding community.

They include:

  • records of predecessor institutions - Hawkesbury Agricultural College, Hawkesbury Agricultural College of Advanced Education, Nepean College of Advanced Education, Milperra College of Advanced Education, and Macarthur Institute of Higher Education
  • official University publications - calendars, annual reports, handbooks, staff and student newsletters, journals and reports
  • administrative files
  • personal papers of senior staff and other members of the university
  • photographs, maps, and plans
  • film, video and sound recordings
