Launched in 2019, Western Sydney Creative is a comprehensive strategy that details WSU's long-term commitment to the arts and culture in our region and beyond. The strategy sets out the University’s commitment and capacity as a leading learning, research and advocacy organisation for arts and culture in our region. Western Sydney Creative underpins Western’s long-term commitment to the arts and cultural sector, including championing, celebrating and investing in the local to assist in the growth and maturation of the region’s artistic and cultural landscape.

Our support and advocacy for the region’s arts ecosystem brings together decision-makers and industry leaders through our Western Sydney Creative Advisory Committee, our State of the Arts Oration, the NSW Arts Sector Roundtable, and our work with the Western Sydney Arts Alliance.

We proudly invest in artists, writers, creatives and makers through exhibitions, publications and art acquisitions for our collection, as well as our commissioning program.

It comprises a diverse range of media from painting and photography to mixed media sculptures and decorative arts. The collection has a rich holding of artwork by 20th century and contemporary Australian artists,

Particular strengths of the Art Collection include over 250 artworks by Indigenous Australian artists, 20th Century Australian print-media artists and painters, and artworks by alumni of the University’s fine arts program
