WELCOME
Western Sydney University Collecting areas– the Archives, Western Sydney Creative and the Library - supports the University’s aim to digitise its collections. By storing, managing, and preserving collections, we ensure their security and longevity for our communities into the future. Having the collections accessible in one place, provides exciting new opportunities for research, teaching and learning.
Digitising the University’s collections is an ongoing process and through this process the collection areas are making many items accessible for the first time. Where we have permission or copyright clearance to do so, we are making the content of the collections available for anyone to access online.
Western Sydney University is deeply committed to fostering a culture of respect and value and for Indigenous Australian peoples, culture, worldviews, histories, experiences and right to self-determination.
As custodian of Indigenous Australian cultural materials and knowledge Western Sydney University’s collections recognise Indigenous Australians as the primary guardians, interpreters and decision-makers of their heritage. In order to manage, access and display the collections that includes Indigenous Australians cultural items and knowledge, or that comprise material about Indigenous themes or that are in some way related, define or connect with Indigenous themes, there needs to be ICIP Protocol.
We request all users of this site to familiarise themselves with the Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) Protocol - Best practice protocols for collections management at Western Sydney University.
