Museum Artefacts
Throughout the history of Western Sydney University and its predecessors a significant quantity of items that can be classed as movable cultural heritage have accumulated on multiple campuses. These items along with other heritage collections within the University provide a valuable insight into the University’s rich cultural heritage.
While the origins of the oldest predecessor for the Univeristy, Hawkesbury Agricultural College, date back to 1891, a few items in the collection date back much further (see the land grant for Joseph Vertillo signed by Governor Macquarie in 1821).
This collection includes a wide range of items, including:
-
clothing (eg sports honour caps, gowns, blazers)
-
Sydney Royal Easter Show medals (some dating back to the Royal Empire Show)
-
Scientific instruments
-
Tools (some hand made by students in the blacksmith's shop)
