From Remembrance Day 2019 notes, Peter R Lister;
"Last, but by no means least of our honoured guests, is George Bennett. George came to HAC from Muswellbrook in 1942 and graduated with the HDA 1944, 75 years ago !, During his time as a student at Hawkesbury, George competed in athletics, was a member of the 2nd XV rugby teams for three years, and also the 2nd XI cricket team of 1944, after which he enlisted and served with the AIF [he did so with six mates, one of whom, Shorty McDonald who died, pers comm 2.xi.19 – buried at Lae]. 73 of his fellow HAC students 1942-44 enlisted – five of whom died.
