Sydney Smith, Minister for Mines & Agriculture on 9 March 1895 to lay the foundation stone of the Hawkesbury Agricultural College (building R4). Sir Robert Askin, Premier of NSW, used the trowel on 8 February 1973 to lay the foundation stone of the Administration Building (M16).
The trowel is inscribed: Presented to The Hon.
