Access, Publication, Visiting (by appointment)
Access
The majority of material is openly available to researchers. However, some collections have access restrictions placed upon them by depositors or legislative requirements.
Information is supplied by mail, phone, fax and email. Charges may apply for copies of photographs and documents. Photocopying is subject to the fragility of the records and to copyright or donor restrictions.
Simple enquiries may be conducted by Archives' staff on behalf of the researcher.
More complex research will need to be undertaken by the researcher. Archives staff will give assistance to help locate the records that are relevant to the research.
Permission to Publish, Exhibit or Broadcast
The publication of direct quotations, excerpts, and images from Archives' collections requires permission. Permission to publish, exhibit, or broadcast materials from the University Archives must be requested and granted in writing by the University Archivist or the Manager, RAMS.
If the materials in question are protected by copyright, permission to publish must be sought from the owners of the rights. It is the responsibility of the requester to secure permission from the copyright holder. If the Archives is identified as the copyright holder, the Archives will give a non-exclusive right to publication upon review of the application. Further republication will require reapplication for permission to publish.
Please send requests for permission to publish to archives@westernsydney.edu.au
Please be sure to submit permission requests well in advance of the publication date.
